White Dental Fillings

Mercury-Free Restorations

Although silver-mercury amalgam fillings have been the standard material used for decay restorations, we no longer use them. They provide a reasonable restoration but have shortcomings. Metal is not the most suitable material, as it does not bond as tightly as needed. If the bond is not tight, decay can set in. Also, the dark, metallic filling in white teeth is not pleasing to look at.

We use only composite resin fillings that bond tightly to a tooth and actually add strength to the tooth structure. These fillings are made to match the tooth color and are virtually unnoticeable, creating a pleasing smile. Because they adhere so well to a tooth, chances of decay setting in or around the filling are greatly reduced.
